Will PayPal Advanced Checkout onboarding affect Direct Payment from legacy PayPal Payments Pro?

We are currently using PayPal Payments Pro to integrate Direct Payment in an ASP.NET Web application. Since Direct Payment has been marked as legacy and are planning to onboard to PayPal Advanced Checkout, can we please know whether the onboarding process will affect the already integrated website related to the direct payments until we make changes to our application to integrate the advanced checkout changes?

Hello @shriramsankaran

Thank you for posting to the PayPal Community.

Advanced Debit and Credit Cards uses Rest API Credentials rather than NVP/SOAP API Credentials. The advantage of Rest API is you can have as many applications as you want. These applications and credentials are separate for the NVP/SOAP API Credentials so the integrations will not impact each other.

Here is the documentation on Advanced Debit and Credit Cards:

https://developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/advanced/

I would recommend testing in Sandbox first, after testing, here are the steps to going live:

https://developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/advanced/integrate#link-golive

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi @MTS_Jennifer ,

Thanks for the clarification. Does that mean we can have both PayPal Payments Pro and Advanced Checkout plans both active at the same time in PayPal?

Hello @shriramsankaran

Thank you for getting back to me. You should be able to have both enabled in your account. Since PayPal Payment's Pro is a legacy product, we are allowing merchants to have both at the same time to help transition to Advanced Debit and Credit Cards.

Thank you,

Jennifer

Hi @MTS_Jennifer ,

Thanks for answering my query. One final question regarding the same, as per the below eligibility, can a buyer from New Zealand pay using Credit Cards in USD in an application where Advanced Debit and Credit Cards has been integrated by a merchant from the United States? In short, does the eligibility apply to both the buyer and merchant or just the merchant?
